Dear Friends,

Harvest is nearly here in the Valley, and it’s one of the most exciting times of year. The days are getting shorter, the nights are cooling down, and after a long growing season, we’re beginning to see what this vintage has to say. Walking the vineyards right now is a reminder of why Marque and I started Purple Hands more than twenty years ago: to grow and make wines that tell the story of this place, this season, and the vineyards we’re fortunate enough to work with.

This fall allocation is a collection of sedimentary wines we’re especially proud to share with you. Each comes from a distinct site, shaped by its elevation, exposure, soil and clones. In the cellar, my job is to listen to the site and help the fruit tell its story, native fermentations, thoughtful use of whole cluster and oak, cold soaks, and bottling our wines unfined and unfiltered. We want every bottle to retain the energy, texture, and personality it had in the vineyard.

As wine club members, you are an important part of what allows us to make wine this way. We can farm with intention, keep our production small, and make decisions based on what we believe will produce the most compelling wine rather than simply the most wine. We hope you’ll open these bottles around the table this fall, share them with people you care about, and experience a little piece of Oregon and the vineyards we love.

Thank you for believing in Purple Hands and for continuing on this journey with our family. After all these years, there is still nothing more rewarding than growing the grapes, making the wine, and knowing where those bottles ultimately end up. We’re incredibly grateful to have you as part of the Purple Hands family, and we hope to see you at the winery soon.

Cheers,

Cody & Marque Wright and the Purple Hands Team
