The Wrights
Native to Oregon vineyards and farmland, Cody and Marque Wright are most inspired by wines that reveal the stories of the landscapes from which they come. Together, they own and operate Purple Hands Winery, a family owned Oregon winery dedicated to producing site specific Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Cody grew up wandering vineyard headlands and hidden hills beneath Oregon’s iconic white oak trees. An environmental scientist by education and a naturalist by instinct, he became fascinated by the relationship between geology, farming and wine. In 2005, at 25 years old, Cody founded Purple Hands Winery with just 250 cases. Marque joined him five years later, bringing the vision, discipline and leadership that helped transform the young winery into the family business it is today.
The name Purple Hands represents the work behind every bottle: hands stained purple and black during harvest, long days and nights in the vineyard and cellar, and a shared commitment to quality. It also honors the work ethic passed down through generations of both Cody and Marque’s families.
Today, Cody serves as winegrower and winemaker, while Marque leads the winery’s operations and helps guide the company’s vision. Together, they farm three estate vineyards and work with a select group of distinguished Willamette Valley sites. Their approach begins with purposeful farming and continues through gentle, low intervention winemaking. Native fermentation, restrained oak and bottling without fining or filtration allow each vineyard’s elevation, aspect, soil and grapevine clones to remain visible in the finished wine.
For Cody and Marque, winegrowing is both precise and intuitive, a combination of deliberate decisions and careful observation. Their goal is not to impose a style upon the land, but to capture its natural energy and translate it honestly into wine.
“Oregon Pinot Noir possesses a rare vibrancy, an energy that sets it apart from every other wine I’ve experienced. My goal is to capture that electricity in every vintage, creating bottles that invite others into that same sense of discovery and captivation.”
— Cody Wright
More than two decades after its founding, Purple Hands remains a close knit family winery grounded in honesty, hard work and an enduring connection to Oregon. Cody and Marque continue to pursue wines of purity and character, wines that carry the story of their vineyards from the earth to the bottle.
The Campbells
Scott and Michele Campbell fell in love with Purple Hands early in our history—They are our great friends and sole partners. Serious about wine and shrewd about business, they are a dedicated force. The Campbells own and operate Latchkey Vineyard, one of our beautiful estate sites in the Dundee Hills.
