The 2025 growing season was consistently warm—on par with some of our hottest summers. But unlike past vintages, this heat was balanced by well-timed rains throughout the summer, helping preserve freshness and energy in the fruit.
Harvest began in mid-September this year. I’ve been out sampling vineyards daily, paying close attention to how each site is developing. My goal is always to capture the precise moment when the grapes express their ideal ripeness—when the vintage speaks with beauty, balance, and soul.
-
This marks my 19th vintage making wines for Purple Hands Winery. The dream of crafting my own wines and farming vineyards began as a kid watching my mother and father. They gave me the wind in my sails and instilled the work ethic it takes to turn a dream into something real.
As I walk the vineyard rows and move into the cellar for this vintage, I’m reminded—again—why I love making Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With each passing year, I find myself more patient, more responsive to the subtle, special moments that define each harvest. These moments continue to inspire me.
-
Over the past 10 years, Marque and I have built our winery in Dundee, purchased our Haakon/Lenai Estate Vineyard, and planted two 20-acre vineyards—all with our own purple hands. Today, we farm 43 acres, nearly all dry-farmed, with only about 9 acres of fruit coming from outside our estate. That makes us predominantly estate-grown—something we’re proud of and continually working toward.
-
Making wine—the smells, the rhythm of vintage, the quiet early mornings in the vineyard—feels like home to me. My hope is that when you open one of our bottles and share it with friends, family, or loved ones, you feel that same warmth and beauty.
Thank you for supporting us in our pursuit to express Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the most honest and pure way we know how. And thank you for trusting us to bring outstanding bottles of wine to your table.
With gratitude,
The Wrights
